100% Shiraz from the warmer, drier parts of Adelaide Hills, notably Macclesfield, and from low yielding vineyards in Balhannah near the Shaw and Smith winery.
Hand harvested bunches were crushed, de-stemmed and fermented in small temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters, with gentle pumping over to extract colour and ripe tannins. Aged in one-third new, 1 and 2 year old French oak barriques for 14 months.
A perfumed Shiraz with floral aromatics and touches of cherry. The palate shows bright red fruits and spice notes of dried herbs including thyme. Exciting natural tannins and a graphite-like earthiness contribute to a savoury core that underpins the great depth and complexity of this wine.
