100% Chardonnay sourced primarily from Saint Clair’s vineyards in Marlborough’s Omaka Valley.
Fruit was lightly whole bunch pressed and the juice fermented in American oak barrels, 50% of which were new, using selected yeast strains. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation, followed by 10 months ageing on yeast lees with regular stirring.
Winemaker's Comments
Only the best barrels were selected for the Omaka Reserve Chardonnay. The resulting wine has aromas of fragrant peach, popcorn and toasted hazelnut with smoky nuances. The palate is round and silky with nectarine, ripe grapefruit and biscuit notes. Drinking beautifully now, and will continue to evolve and reward over several years.
