90% Carménère and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Montes' own vineyards in Apalta and Marchigüe, arguably two of the finest sites in the Colchagua Valley.
Grapes were cold soaked at 10ºC for 5 days to extract aroma and colour. Underwent fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 12 days. Kept on skins to impart structure and colour. After malolactic fermentation 55% of the final blend was aged in one-third new French oak barrels for 12 months.
Aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries followed by notes of black plums, dried figs, milk chocolate, mocha and a touch of black pepper. Nicely structured and balanced on the palate, with well-rounded tannins leading to a long pleasing finish.
