100% Shiraz from the Red Queen of the Eden Valley vineyard, which is over 100 years old. These ancient, gnarled vines are thriving on their own roots in some of the oldest soils on the planet.
Fruit was hand-harvested with two thirds gently crushed over a third of whole bunch fruit, and naturally fermented in open fermenters for 11 days. Hand plunged 3 times daily before careful basket pressing into half new and half older French oak barriques to finish fermentation. After 30 months maturation and a racking in the same oak, it was bottled without filtration or fining.
Lifted blue fruits aromas, with plum, blackberries and Christmas pudding-like spice. Generous sweet blackberry, raspberry and plums on the palate with lashings of sweet spice. Firm but fine tannins with a youthful finish.
