Château Bel-Air La Royere, L’Esprit De Bel-Air La Royère, 2012
Right Bank Bordeaux blend Merlot 90%, Malbec 5%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5%. Bel-Air la Royère's vineyards, perched on a rocky ridge dominating the Gironde Estuary, are renowned for producing exceptionally characterful wines. Deservedly coming into more prominence now, this is undoubtedly one of the finest estates in the Blaye.
Ripe cherry and blackberry fruit with light kirsch, rose and violet floral notes, coffee and liquorice spice, showing delightfully fresh and mineral depth. Succulently balanced palate: intense front, opulent centre, velvety tannins, good mineral depth and base to the development, with long creamy fruit, kirsch and spice in the finish marked by floral and savoury notes.
L’Esprit de Bel-Air la Royère 2012 is the second wine of Bel-Air la Royère; a great everyday drinking Claret, and one of our great value picks from a perennially popular estate which we have now been following for many years. Unusually for the region, 20% Malbec is added to the blend, which adds depth, richness and contributes to the overall unique character of this lovely wine.
